Gerald Elephant – Gerald and Piggie Set

My oldest son had his last day of school this week! Our whole family just loves his teacher, so I knew I wanted to do something special for her for an end-of-the-year gift. The problem? Teacher Appreciation week was only two week ago, so I spent all of my heartfelt, thoughtful gifts on that week! So I got to brainstorming. Then my son mentioned that she read the class an Elephant and Piggie book by Mo Willems (if you haven’t read them yet, you NEED to check them out! So cute! Here is a link to find them!). So, of course, I knew I had to make a set of Gerald and Piggie!

We gave them to her today and she LOVED them! She’s going to put them in her reading corner and use them for her class next year! But now I have orders from all three of my boys to make them each a set!

Want your own set? Here is the pattern for Gerald the Elephant! Piggie is coming soon!

Finishing Instructions:

Sew arms evenly on either side of body, around R20.

Sew trunk in middle around R12-13 of head.

Sew tail in middle of back around R33/34.

Sew ears on either side of head evenly (around R2/3 on either side). To make them more “authentic”, sew tops of ears and halfway down the side closest to the trunk. This allows them to flare out slightly.

Cut 1/3″ or so felt circles. Glue on head, lining up evenly on either side of trunk. Using black puff paint, outline eyes and draw line between eyes and on either side of eyes for eyeglass frames. Paint dot in middle of eyes for pupil. Continuing with the black paint, draw mouth.
